About Dereck Hindry

 

Wildlife photography has been my passion for more than 15 years. During that time, I have travelled extensively through some of Africa’s most iconic wildlife destinations, capturing the beauty, drama and raw emotion of the natural world.My photographic journey has given me the privilege of working alongside some of Africa’s most respected wildlife photographers, including Wim van den Heever, winner of the 2026 Natural History Museum Wildlife Photographer of the Year. These experiences have not only refined my photographic skills but have deepened my understanding of wildlife behaviour and the importance of ethical wildlife photography.

 

I have also been fortunate to be mentored by internationally recognised wildlife photographer, author and photographic judge Lou Coetzer, owner of CNP Safaris. His guidance has played a significant role in shaping both my photographic approach and my passion for sharing unforgettable wildlife experiences with others.

 

Today, I combine my love of photography with leading small-group photographic tours to some of the world’s most spectacular wildlife destinations. Whether photographing the magnificent tigers of India, the incredible birdlife of the Chobe River, or the breathtaking landscapes of Victoria Falls, my goal is simple—to help fellow photographers return home with images they are proud of and memories that will last a lifetime.
